Statement of Understanding
As part of our commitment to serving you, we want to ensure that you are fully informed of your rights and the services available to you. Please review the following key points: 1.Veterans Outreach Ministries Inc. is not associated with the federal Department of Veterans Affairs, or the Florida state Department of Veterans Affairs. We are a nonprofit organization and do not work for, or under, the Government. 2.Veterans may qualify for other veteran benefits beyond the benefits for which you are receiving our services for. 3.Florida state law now provides limitations to organizations assisting with VA compensation claims which require a cap to any compensation awarded to the provider who is assisting the Veteran with their claim. Compensation provided to the provider is based on securing an increase in benefits as a direct result of the services of the Provider. That cap is limited and is not to exceed the lesser of four times the monthly increase in benefits or $12,500.00.While Veterans Outreach Ministries Inc., does not fall within this limitation we willingly limit the compensation to an amount far less than this statutory amount. 4.Veterans Outreach Ministries, Inc. make no guaranty regarding the outcome of your claim(s) or specific benefits you may be awarded. 5.Background Screening: all individuals assisting with veterans' benefits must undergo a level 2 background screening to include submitting their fingerprints to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for processing and is disqualified if convicted to offenses related to fraud or deception or adult abuse, neglect, or exploitation of aged persons or disabled adults. 6.Assistance Services: Veterans Outreach Ministries is here to advise and assist you in filing applications for veterans’ compensation benefits and we do not charge for filing an initial claim. 7.Professional Support: Our team includes VA accredited Claims Agents, VA accredited Attorneys, doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, and claims support specialists that have all gone through extensive training through the Department of Veteran Affairs, allowing them access to the veterans benefits management system to have access to the veterans, full military and VA compensation records they will work together to help you secure the benefits that you are legally entitled to. 8.Compliance with Florida Law: Although Veterans Outreach Ministries is not obligated to comply with the new Florida law due to our Agents and Attorneys being accredited through the Department of Veterans Affairs, we have chosen to follow these regulations to demonstrate our commitment to thoroughness and ethical service. This ensures we meet compliance measures similar to those required of other organizations that are notaccredited. 9.No Fees: We do not charge any fees for our services on initial claims. However, we request a contingency fee of three months for any increase in compensation the veteran receives, or 20% of back-pay if an appeal is filed and awarded. The fee paid on your claim is based on obtaining an increase in benefits awarded as a direct result of our services. 10.The other organizations that charge for their services (and most are not accredited through the Department of Veterans Affairs), charge up to four months of the increase in compensation the veteran receives. So, for example, if you the veteran received a $1000 a month increase on your compensation, they would charge $4,000.00. Instead, Veterans Outreach Ministries requires three months of any increase or 20% of their back pay if the claim was appealed. This is substantially less than the fees charged by other organizations,that most likely are not accredited through the Department of Veterans Affairs. 11.Free Services: It is important to note that assistance may be available to you at no cost through other organizations, such as the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs and the federal government Department of Veterans Affairs. Additionally, you may file your own VA claim online through the VA website at VA.Gov..If you have recently left military service, you may be eligible for free assistance with your VA claim through Government agencies if you file a claim within one year after discharge from active duty. By signing this Agreement and selecting Veterans Outreach Ministries,Inc. you acknowledge you have been made aware of the possibility that you may be eligible for free VA claim services offered by Governmental agencies especially if you area recently discharged military veteran and by using Veterans Outreach Ministries, Inc. you are denying use of those resources. 12.Confidentiality: We are committed to protecting your personally identifiable information and will take necessary measures to ensure your privacy. Because our Agents and Attorneys are accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs, our privacy policies are stringent and subject to the Department of Veterans Affairs policies unlike organizations that are not accredited through the Department of Veterans affairs. 13.Your Rights: You have the right to seek assistance from any provider you choose and are encouraged to explore all available options. 14.By signing this Agreement you acknowledge and understand that a contingency representation fee (which is a percentage of the amount awarded, see specifically paragraph 9 above) is due to this non-profit organization upon successful approval of your VA claim and receipt of disability funds from the VA regarding your claim, in other words, these fees are due to VOM upon receipt of your claim funds from the VA. Your failure to comply with these payment terms upon successful receipt of disability funds may result in your case being turned over to a collection agency and potentially litigation to enforce these terms. While it is not our desire to seek litigation, we are committed to continue our mission to assist veterans and without receipt of these funds we may face challenges to sustain our organization and assist future veterans.
